About Me
The dad behind the blog.
Hey, I'm Chris — the dad behind Dad Mode Zone. I live in a great neighborhood with my wife and two kids: a daughter who's 6 and a son who's 3. Between the two of them there is always a negotiation underway, always something that needs cleaning, and never a dull moment.
I started this blog because I wanted a place to share what fatherhood actually looks like in practice — not the highlight reel version. That means the real experiences: figuring out home ownership on the fly, keeping a yard alive despite a packed schedule, finding the right tools without blowing the budget, and navigating the daily chaos of raising kids who are growing up way too fast.
Most of the advice I found online was too polished, too perfect, or written by someone who clearly did not have a three-year-old wandering into their workshop. This is the real version — where you figure things out by doing them wrong first, then doing them right, then telling other dads about it so they can skip step one.
What I Write About
- Parenting & Kids, Bedtime strategies, activities, the science of getting a child to eat vegetables (still a work in progress), and the emotional side of watching someone grow up too fast.
- Home Improvement & Tools, I learned to fix things out of necessity. I'll tell you which tools are worth it, which projects are DIYable, and when to just call a professional.
- Outdoors & Yard, Lawn care, gardening, backyard projects, and camping with kids. I made all the beginner mistakes so you don't have to.
- Gear Reviews, Honest takes on the stuff I've actually bought, tested, and lived with. No affiliate fluff, just my real opinion.
Why "Dad Mode Zone"?
Because once you become a dad, you never really turn it off. Dad mode isn't a setting, it's a permanent state of noticing every hazard, carrying too many bags at once, and knowing exactly where everyone's shoes are. This blog is a celebration of all of it.
Thanks for reading. Now go fix something.
